Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Plot2Data, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Service Description

Plot2Data is an evidence-first chart digitization workbench. It can inspect a supported chart image, propose axis and series structure, trace selected lines, expose ambiguous regions for review, evaluate a supported quantitative claim with deterministic rules, and create a browser-generated evidence bundle.

Google Gemini may assist with semantic inspection of an uploaded figure. It does not calculate the final reconstructed values, digitization uncertainty, arithmetic, or verdict. The legacy broad extractor is paused and is not the current primary service.

Supported Scope

The current supported scope is one 2D line chart with up to three series; linear or log10 axes; solid or dashed traces; and circle, square, or no markers. Supported claim forms include ratios and differences at a specified X value and a single-series threshold crossing. Inputs or claims outside this scope may be rejected, marked not verifiable, or produce incomplete results.

Product examples and the benchmark protocol describe intended conditions, not a guarantee of performance on every image.

Meaning of Results

A Plot2Data verdict addresses only whether values reconstructed from the submitted figure support the entered quantitative claim under the displayed tolerance, digitization uncertainty, quality checks, and verdict rules. It is not a conclusion about an entire paper, study, author, organization, or dataset.

• Plot2Data does not determine statistical significance, causation, research validity, misconduct, or source-data authenticity.
• A digitization uncertainty interval concerns image-reading and reconstruction error. It is not a statistical confidence interval.
• A NOT SUPPORTED verdict does not establish that a publication or underlying result is false.
• A SUPPORTED verdict does not independently validate the source data or broader claim.

User Responsibilities

• Use the service lawfully, ethically, and only for purposes you are authorized to pursue.
• Upload only material you have the right to process and transmit to the service and its providers.
• Do not submit personal, confidential, regulated, export-controlled, or sensitive information unless you have assessed and accepted the relevant risks and permissions.
• Review the source overlay, calibration, ambiguity warnings, assumptions, and exported provenance before relying on a result.
• Do not misrepresent a bounded Plot2Data verdict as a finding about a paper as a whole or as proof of misconduct.
• Do not interfere with the service, bypass safeguards, probe for vulnerabilities without authorization, or generate excessive automated traffic.

WebMCP and Automated Use

Plot2Data may expose state-scoped WebMCP tools so a compatible agent can operate the same visible workflow as the user. You remain responsible for reviewing agent actions and outputs. Automated use is permitted only through intended interfaces and at reasonable rates; it must not evade controls, impair service availability, or violate these terms.

Evidence Bundles

Evidence bundles are assembled in the browser from the workbench state and may contain the source image, source hash, overlay, extracted series, calibration, claim, verdict, corrections, quality metrics, and provenance. A bundle records the workflow represented at export time; it does not certify that the source is authentic, that every extraction choice is correct, or that a result is suitable for a particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing and safeguarding downloaded bundles.

Intellectual Property

Plot2Data's software, design, branding, and original site content are owned by Plot2Data or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. Subject to third-party rights and applicable law, you retain your rights in material you upload. You are responsible for ensuring that your use, extraction, export, and sharing of any figure or evidence bundle do not infringe the rights of others.

Third-Party Services

Plot2Data may rely on third-party services such as Google Gemini, hosting providers, analytics, and advertising services. Their availability and data practices are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or content beyond the extent required by applicable law.

Disclaimers

• The service and all outputs are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law.
• Chart reconstruction can be affected by resolution, compression, anti-aliasing, line thickness, occlusion, similar colors, axis interpretation, and human review choices.
• You must independently verify results before using them in research, publication, journalism, financial, legal, medical, safety-critical, or other consequential decisions.
• The service may be modified, limited, suspended, or discontinued, and AI-assisted inspection may be temporarily unavailable.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Plot2Data and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities arising from use of or inability to use the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Advertising

The site may display advertising through Google AdSense or other providers where enabled. Advertising and related cookies are described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The updated version becomes effective when published unless a later date is stated. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms to the extent permitted by law.
