Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 30, 2026
Scope
This policy applies to Plot2Data, including the chart workbench, reproducible demo, benchmark pages, and related website features. Plot2Data is currently provided without a user account or hosted project library.
Information Processed
- Chart images you choose to upload and text visible within those images
- Claim text, selected series, calibration choices, and trace corrections entered in the workbench
- Technical request information that hosting, security, analytics, or advertising providers may receive, such as IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps, and referring pages
- Messages and contact details that you voluntarily provide when contacting us
AI-Assisted Figure Inspection
When you request inspection of an uploaded figure, the image may be sent through our server to the Google Gemini API. Gemini is used to propose semantic structure such as the plot region, axis labels, tick candidates, legend entries, series appearance, and potential ambiguity. Google may process the image and associated request metadata under its applicable terms and privacy policies.
Gemini does not calculate Plot2Data's final reconstructed values, digitization uncertainty, arithmetic, or verdict. Those operations are performed by deterministic code. Do not upload confidential, personal, export-controlled, or otherwise sensitive material unless you are authorized to transmit it to these service providers.
Browser Processing and Evidence Bundles
Calibration, trace review, supported claim evaluation, overlay rendering, hashing, and evidence-bundle assembly are designed to run in your browser. Creating or downloading a bundle does not by itself upload that bundle back to Plot2Data. The bundle may include the source image, extracted series, calibration, claim, verdict, corrections, tool history, quality metrics, and provenance that are already present in the workbench.
The packaged demo can be used without uploading your own figure. Visit the benchmark page to review the evaluation protocol without submitting source material.
How We Use Information
- To provide figure inspection and the Plot2Data evidence workflow
- To secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service
- To understand aggregate usage and reliability
- To respond to support, privacy, or legal requests
- To comply with applicable law and protect users, the service, and third parties
Storage and Retention
Plot2Data does not currently provide persistent cloud project storage. Uploaded figures are submitted for the requested inspection rather than intentionally saved as user projects. However, our hosting, AI, security, analytics, and advertising providers may retain request data, logs, backups, or caches for limited periods under their own policies, contractual obligations, or legal requirements. We may also retain records when reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, dispute resolution, or compliance.
Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
- The site and its service providers may use cookies, local storage, web beacons, and similar technologies for essential operation, preferences, security, analytics, and advertising where enabled.
- Google AdSense and its partners may use cookies to provide and measure advertisements, including personalized ads where permitted and consented to.
- You can control cookies through your browser and, where available, the site's consent controls. Disabling essential storage may affect service functionality.
- You can manage Google advertising preferences in Google's Ads Settings and learn how Google uses information from partner sites in Google's explanation.
Third-Party Services
The service may rely on providers including Google Gemini for semantic figure inspection, Vercel for hosting and delivery, and Google AdSense for advertising where enabled. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control third-party websites or their independent data practices.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the service, including encrypted HTTPS transmission. No internet service or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent for personal information we control. These rights may be limited by applicable law and by whether we can reasonably identify the relevant data. You may also avoid uploading a figure, use the packaged demo, manage browser storage, and adjust advertising preferences.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the product, providers, or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the latest published version.
